Ella: What exactly does a personal coach do for the client?
We serve our clients best when we listen, challenge, embrace, and move them forward one step at a time. We also help them eliminate barriers that impede progress, stretch to reach and exceed their potential, and make paradigm shifts for inside-out changes. We have built our foundation on excellence, passion, and value-based philosophy best expressed in three words: discovery, growth, and application. Samples of our services include business/corporate/life coaching, mastermind coaching groups, workshops, speaking, and retreats. Our coaching approach helps clients identify their present situations and desired destinations. The clients are then coached to get to their desired destinations where they are rejuvenated, empowered, and motivated to make things happen. Generally, the clients ROI is high. As the sole owner, I received my training from Corporate Coach U and have been coaching for over three years. I’m a trained workshop facilitator and a competent toastmaster.
Ella: Finish this sentence: I am Powerful because…

I am Powerful because…when I work from my passion and strengths, I’m able to work with ease, have clearer insights, be highly aware of the needs of my clients, and provide great coaching for great results.
Ella: Did your company change the way consumers were previously taught to think? "It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success nor more dangerous to manage than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who profit by the preservation of the old institution and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new one." - Nicolo Machiavelli
The focus of NexPhase Transitions is to create a huge impact one client at a time by opening up their minds to see beyond the obvious and to creatively think outside the “ordinary” box for new and profound ideas. When one looks past the “what’s in it for me” mentality to see the bigger picture, powerful things happen; visions are illuminated, inspiration sparks hope, and ah ha moments are realized.
Isaac Asimov says it well: “The only constant is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today.” Intellectually we believe that nothing remains the same forever and though change is essential; it is also optional. Adjusting to change can be difficult. Coaching clients through transitions is a three-way process: 1) understanding the rational of change; 2) partial acceptance; 3) complete acceptance followed by action and implementation. During this process, clients come face-to-face with their fears which are usually the engine fueling resistance to change. We believe that we must blend together the stages of change with powerful coaching in order to create a new wave of thinking for consumers.

Ella: Where did you get your start in this business/industry? Did you have any formal business training?
Years ago, I was exposed to the concept of team-building where my coaching instincts emerged. Looking back over my years as an IT professional, I realized that I naturally gravitated towards helping and mentoring non technicians through the maze of technical issues. When I became a technical manager, I applied coaching techniques to motivate my staff to do more than the obvious and to work from their own internal motivation. I received my formal business training when pursuing my BS degree and my coaching certification. In addition, I received lots of hands-on exposure and mentorship to become a well-rounded astute business-woman.
Ella: What separates you and your firm from the competition?
The key things that separate me from my competition are soul, courage, and purpose. I have a special passion for my niche market, small business owners. As a business owner, I can relate to their issues which include managing business for growth, living a balanced and fulfilled life, and dealing with business challenges. Because of this I’m committed to helping this market reduce the overwhelming statistics on business failure.
Ella: How would you describe your experience as an Entrepreneur?
I consider my entrepreneurial experience to be youthful; growing in maturity. My first encounter with entrepreneurship was a daunting and eye-opening experience. There was so much to learn and do and were it not for my love for entrepreneurship, I would have moved on to something else. However, over the years, I’ve learned and am still learning the secrets of successful entrepreneurship. It is a journey that moves us through one destination after another. Along the way we reap many benefits, but the one that stands out most is the ability to stretch beyond one’s comfort zone.
Ella: What do you like most about your profession?
On a whole, coaching is a rewarding and fulfilling profession. But when clients’ positive outcomes are realized, it is even more gratifying to know that coaching works to move people closer to their dreams. It has the power to profoundly change people’s mindset and way of life.
Ella: What is your biggest challenge in business? How did you overcome it?
There have been different challenges over the years, but they were manageable and short-lived. However, the current economic challenge is big. It is so wide and pervasive that I had to pull out all resources, strength, and will power to counteract the decline in business. I revisited my services and looked for other opportunities where I can leverage my resources and time. The answer was running more mastermind coaching groups and retreats to offer cost-effective services and at the same time maintain my revenue base. I’m also considering smart alliances with non-competitive partners.
Ella: What's new in your company for 2009?
Our model for 2009 is doing things smarter and more efficiently. We are adding two new services; retreats and a coaching club for entrepreneurs. In discovering an under-serviced niche, we are developing one-day retreats for small groups between 5 and 14. The retreats are great getaways to plan, regroup or get in touch with one’s inner self. We cater for book clubs, family groups, church groups or small business groups. The coaching club is an economic way for individuals to receive coaching, participate in teleseminars run by experts, and link up with other relevant resources through club membership.
