Do you dream of being successful? Perhaps you consider yourself as already being successful. Better still, what IS your idea of success?


Most of us equate being successful with having lots of money, a luxury car, status, prestige, expensive clothes, a big house in a “secluded” community or section of the city; not to mention a good job or better still owning our own company, etc. Some of this might actually be true! But when we use these worldly things as a means of measuring success, we will find out sooner or later that it matters not what earthly treasures you possess or have acquired if you don’t know the one who owns everything. Even a thousand cattle on a hill belong to God. God’s plans for those who are His children are plans for our good. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him! He is rich in houses and land and He is the one who holds ALL of everything there is in the very palm of His hands. All that is and ever was and ever will be is HIS! God wants to bless us, even with some of the material things we desire! He tells us that we have not because we ask not and when we do ASK we ask amiss; in other words, what we ask oftentimes is not of His will!

So what is success really all about? It’s about knowing the God that has nothing but good waiting on you and for you. It’s about knowing that whether you have loads of material stuff or whether you are in a state of earthly poverty, that you are successful if the Father himself is your Daddy. You are His heir, adopted into His kingdom and no matter what you have or don’t have really is not the issue because you have it ALL if you have Him! Therefore, walk mighty and bold in spirit this week as you take your rightful place next to your Daddy! He’s loaded!!!! “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4: 11-13 (English-NIV)

  1. Success is a relative term. I believe one is successful when they have learned to be content in any situation because they understand that God is their ultimate source and He will always take of them.

    Success is measured by the number of lives you are able to touch in a positive way.

  2. As a coach, everyone's definition of success is different. For some it might be spiritually based, for others it's a certain amount of financial security and another still just waking up healthy and happy makes them a success.

    I think Maya Angelou said it best when she said, "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."
